Former Faculty of Law doctoral student, Évelyne Jean-Bouchard, who earned her PhD in 2017, has been awarded the Royal Society of Canada’s Alice Wilson Award.
Ms. Jean-Bouchard specializes in feminist legal anthropology. Her doctoral studies at uOttawa focused on the legal experiences of Congolese women in North Kivu, Eastern DRC. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Montreal’s Public Law Research Centre, where she seeks to better understand the role and place of women in Indigenous governance bodies in Quebec.
The Royal Society of Canada established the Alice Wilson Awards in 1991 to recognize emerging women scholars.
