
This scholarship was established in memory of Barry McDougall, BA, LLB, by his family to enable one Polish law graduate per year to travel to Canada to earn a Master of Laws degree (LLM) in Common and Civil Law at the University of Ottawa. An expert in energy law, Barry McDougall dedicated a great deal of his professional and personal life toward making Canadian law accessible to people in Eastern and Central Europe.
Eligibility Criteria
The successful applicant must:
- be admitted as a full-time student to the LLM program at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa;
- hold a Magister in Law from a university in Poland before beginning studies at the University of Ottawa and have a minimum average of B (70%) based on final marks at the end of the fourth year of study;
- be fluent in either French or English, with a certificate confirming language proficiency (TOEFL, MELAB, IELTS or CANTEST);
- submit a proposal detailing the research that he or she will undertake during his or her program at the University of Ottawa.
